Democratic Candidate
Representing Oregon's 1st Congressional District
I am:
Pro-Union. I myself was a Teamster member over twenty years ago. My father was a union worker and my wife is currently a member of the CWA/AFA.
Frustrated at Congress' inability to end the occupation of Iraq and the ongoing abuses of our civil liberties.
Ready to devote the rest of my life to making this country a place where my grand- children and yours can live in peace and prosperity.
I believe that despair is not an option. I don't see problems, only solutions. I have a can-do attitude, saying "make it happen". Together, with optimistic foresight, we can once again be the great nation that the world has come to expect.
When you elect me to Congress, I pledge to:
Enthusiastically voice your concerns with vigilance and passion.
Never accept corporate money.
Vehemently uphold, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
Address the reprehensible disparity between corporate big-wigs and the common worker.
I have the courage and tenacity to stand and hold my ground when I know I'm right. I still remember being taught that if you tell the truth, you will never have to tell a lie. Do what is right and you will never have to try to cover it up.
MARK WELYCZKO FOR U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
As required by Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution, Members of Congress shall be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution.
"I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
The pathetically low approval rating of Congress is testimony that many of our current politicians are not honoring the oath they took. Americans are ready for serious change. We are the Employers, and like any other occupation where the employee won't exercise their duties, they are replaced.
People are saying "Enough"! I know this because of the extremely favorable responses that I have received while campaigning. Constituents in Oregon’s 1st District are excited that someone is willing to take on a 10 year incumbent and put a stop to this.

COURAGE FOR CHANGE
Paid for by the Committee to Elect Mark Welyczko
League of Women Voters interview with Mark.
According to our elected officials, warrant-less wire tapping (a clear 4th Amendment violation as well as a felony) is apparently not sufficient grounds for impeachment. Our Representatives know full well that the remedy is in Article 2, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution. To totally disregard this clause, violates their oath. Our current Congressional delegate can't pick and choose when he’s going to obey and what he wants to ignore. "Impeachment is off the table"? Not in my Constitution!
The Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, the constant Signing Statements, a Private Military on American soil, Voter Caging, Election Fraud... how can this go on?
